Do you love the air, landscapes and beauty of the mountains? Would you like to discover the amazing Himalayan region and a UNESCO Reserve? The Valley of Flowers is an incredible and vibrant National Park in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand in north India and has been a part of the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves since 2004. On this tour, you will visit the birth land of Yoga Rishikesh and traverse up to altitudes of 3000-3500m, along long winding rivers, breathtaking sceneries and dramatic geology.
The Valley of Flowers is open to visitors from June to October and requires you to be comfortable walking distances of up to 14 km a day for four days. This comfortably paced adventure is a nature lover’s dream come true as you will witness the richness and diversity of the Himalayan flora and fauna.
Day 1 – To Delhi
Departure from your home country.
Arrival Delhi and then on transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will embark on sightseeing of Old and New Delhi, including visits to iconic Mughal monuments, streets and bazaars of Old Delhi and British heritage.
Day 2 – To Rishikesh
Today we travel to Rishikesh (330 m above sea level) by train. Known as the birth land of Yoga, it is a delightful town on the banks of the majestic River Ganges. Check in at your hotel.
Day 3 – To Rudraprayag
Today we travel from Rishikesh to Rudraprayag (900 m). Enjoy an early morning walk along the River Ganges and/or a yoga session at the hotel. Drive along the Alaknanda River to the mesmerizing confluence with the Manadakini (source of the Ganges).
Day 4 – To Govindghat
We will travel from Rudraprayag to Govindghat (1900 m) along the Alaknanda River amidst increasingly spectacular mountain scenery, traversing from rocks of the Indian continent (i.e. Lesser Himalayas) into the High Himalayas.
Day 5 – To Badrinath
Govindghat to Badrinath (3150 m). We will move along the Alaknanda river towards its origin.
Day 6 – Badrinath
We spend the day in Badrinath (3150 m). Visit the famed Badrinath Temple and the hot springs at Tapt Kund. Also visit Mana Village, the last village in the Indian Territory before Tibet.
Day 7 – To Govindghat
We travel from Badrinath to Govindghat. We will have the opportunity to have a closer look at the rocks and plants around Badrinath before returning to Govindghat, our kick-starting point for the Valley of Flowers.
Day 8 – To Ghangharia
Ghovindghat to Ghangharia (3000 m). We will board a jeep for 3km upstream the Pushpawati river to Pulna, then walk 11 km to our tented camps area, where we will stay for three nights. We will view diverse metamorphic rocks en route.
Day 9 – Ghangharia
Today we will move from Ghangharia to the Valley of Flowers (3600 m). We will embark on a challenging 5 km walk to the beginning of the Valley of Flowers. Then we will get to explore the valley at a comfortable pace. We will return to Ghangharia by 5 pm.
Day 10 – Ghangharia
Today you will have the option of spending another guide-led day in the Valley of Flowers or you can spend the day studying the plants and rocks around the village.
Day 11 – To Rudraprayag
Ghangharia to Rudraprayag. We will walk 11km down to Pulna and then board a jeep to Govindghat, before driving to Rudraprayag.
Day 12 – To Rishikesh
We will return to Rishikesh today and spend some free time at leisure in the late afternoon in the riverside town.
Day 13 – To Delhi
We will reach Delhi by train, after spending some free time in Rishikesh. Stay at a hotel near the International airport.
Day 14 – On the final day
Departure for your home country.
